Why Give

Why should I sponsor the PCF?

PCF brings people, capital and ideas together to help local Lake Norman charities and the communities they serve. We’re Neighbors helping Neighbors. When asked “why should I give to PCF rather than give directly to a local charity?” we have three clear answers:

1) We do the “due diligence” for you. We meet with many local charities each year and evaluate how they invest/spend their contributions and the results they obtain on a “per dollar invested” basis. We try to invest in those charities that provide the highest “ROI” to the community for our (your) contributions.

2) Then, in those charities in which we invest, we monitor the results they achieve against the goals we mutually establish for the investment.

3) Finally, because of your contributions, we are able to “aggregate” funds, and as such, are able to make larger contributions than most people could or would make on their own. As a result, our contributions have a proportionately larger impact for those charities that we believe best use the funds donated to the PCF.

By sponsoring the PCF you show your support for our mission and help sustain a vibrant organization. Sponsorship also shows your support for Lake Norman area charities and provides you the opportunity to “give back” to the community. Become one with us in our motto of “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.” Finally, since the PCF is non-profit organization, sponsorship provides attractive tax benefits.

Where will my sponsorship funds go?

The Peninsula Community Foundation supports Lake Norman area charities. The generous support of neighbors like you has allowed us to serve many programs and organizations. It is our intent that our recipient organizations not only benefit from our financial contribution, but also from the direct involvement of PCF Board Members and other neighbors and volunteers in the Peninsula and the Cornelius community at large.

Your sponsorship will allow the PCF to continue the work started over ten years ago by its founders, grow in the future to meet the additional needs of the charities we support and guide new charities to become strong foundations within our community. Your sponsorship will also enable us to continue the development of smaller charities who find it difficult to receive funding at state and local levels. Together we can enhance our community outreach through “Neighbors Helping Neighbors.”

PCF is a non-profit organization.

The Peninsula Community Foundation is a private operating foundation that is registered as a non-profit, charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code. This means that donations to the PCF should be tax-deductible. We are not accountants, so this cannot be trusted as financial advice of any kind, but hopefully this description will be useful to those who advise you in these matters.

I'd like to talk to someone about supporting the PCF!

If you would like more information about supporting the PCF with a donation, please contact Loraine Shalvoy at lshalvoy@thepeninsulacommunityfoundation.org. Sponsorship donations are handled differently from standard non-directed donations, so if you want your donations to be part of the Sponsorship program (and thus obtain the benefits of the program), please contact:

How can I donate at a different level to the PCF?

The PCF appreciates donations of any size, and as a US registered 501(3)c corporation your donation may be tax deductible. If you are interested in donating to the PCF at a different level, please contact Loraine Shalvoy at lshalvoy@thepeninsulacommunityfoundation.org.

Thanks for your support!
